Navigation basics in Maya
3D Modelling and Animation with Maya
🕑 This lesson will take about 5 minutes
In this lesson, you will learn the basics of navigating around the Maya interface and using the tumble (orbit), track (pan), dolly, and zoom tools. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to move around your 3D scene so you can manipulate your 3D objects with ease.
First, we will take a look at the Maya interface and discuss some of its key components, including the viewports, the menus and toolbars. Next, we will introduce the tumble (orbit), track (pan), dolly, and zoom tools and show you how to use them to move around your 3D scene. The tumble tool allows you to orbit your view around a pivot point, the track tool lets you pan left, right, up, or down, the dolly tool lets you move closer to or farther away from your objects, and the zoom tool lets you zoom in or out.
